Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is nothing to be ashamed of.  You did your duty... and as a result your brain got some extra programming.  War isn't pretty nor easy.  Things happen.

Real courage is recognizing that you have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and choosing to do something about it. 

Sergeant Major Mayfield served in some pretty intense duties in Vietnam... and he had his own battles with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder... But rather than letting it beat him.. he chose to find solutions... Ways to overcome the issues created by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

For Sergeant Major Mayfield it was in the unique nature of the martial arts of JUDO and Jiu-Jitsu.  He found that by employing the 6 Maxims of Judo one could live with PTSD and even thrive!

Today using his unique experiences, and his knowledge of the Kodokan lifestyle and discipline to help others fighting the ravages of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
